How to Set Up Your Counterweight

How to Set Up Your Counterweight

Hints & Tips
When cooking a whole pig or lamb - or even an array of large roasting pieces, the balance of the meat on the pole will never be perfect. This causes the pole to rotate unevenly and can cause the meat to cook slightly unevenly and also put extra strain on the spit motor. The solution is to set up a counterweight on the pole, with the weight sitting opposite to the heaviest side of the meat. We supply a counterweight with your spit oven hire, and this handy accessory will ensure your spit roast meat rotates evenly. The expert team at The BBQ Store have put together a handy how-to video on setting up your counterweight correctly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgzHMllB8cc To see their great range of BBQ and Spit Roasting products, visit…

Using Cooking Briquettes / Charcoal

Using Cooking Briquettes / Charcoal

Hints & Tips
Here’s a handy instructional video on how to warm up your cooking fuel. This video shows how to start briquettes using a Weber BBQ, but the same method applies to starting briquettes or charcoal in your spit oven. With the spit being a longer oven, it’s best to make 2 or 3 pyramids on the fuel tray. Once the beads are ready for cooking with, spread them out on the tray. Once spread, a depth of 2-3 beads is usually best for cooking in the spit oven. https://youtu.be/X2xwPIb1CNk Thanks to @HeatBeadsBBQBriquettes For more information on our ovens and equipment, contact us at: Canberra/Queanbeyan: canberra@canberraspithire.com.au Albury/Wodonga: albury@canberraspithire.com.au READY TO HIRE?
